Perhaps PA has already answered this but since her kids go to private school, it's very possible they don't have a security guard. The grammar/high school that my kids go to does not have a security guard. There has never been a need for one (it's a private school, not that that necessarily matters). The public schools here do have them for middle and high school.

Why are any all of my questions being answered?

<<Please see espzinger's post. She said it PERFECT.>>

What also has not changed is the fact that many kids do not get in trouble. So why should decisions be based on the fact that some kids do get in trouble rather than the fact that most won't.

Can I ask why you think a private school would not need a security guard over a public one?

<<I thought you just said a basketball game STARTED at 7pm? What time do these plays start? Do you also think that only "bad" things happen AFTER school lets out?>>

No, sigh.

I don't know that it was limited to that....and remember, in my school (and mom34's) there aren't just middle schools they are middle/high schools, so at least in my case, that means more activities that are going on.

And some do things that parents have NO clue they have done until MAYBE they tell them when they are an adult or never. You can't live with blinder on an be naive that "my" kid is a "good" kid and will NEVER do anything wrong. You just don't know if peer pressure will take over and sometimes you just don't know the friend of a friend of a friend.

Well it seems then that you do associate risk with your parental decisions. That's my point, sometimes there is a risk that pertains more to one gender than the other, and I am more likely to respond with more time/effort/planning where a greater risk exists. It's no different than me responding any other risk appropriately.
