I think it's only a double standard if the difference in rules is based upon unrelated or irrelevant things. Boys use a bigger basketball than girls ... because girls hands are smaller. Relevant, not a double standard. Boys coach gets paid 4x what the girls coach does. Double standard.

If it's MS/HS basketball I agree with you, they should be the same pay structure with differences based on time employed and/or merit. If it was professional sports, then the pay is driven in part by the success of the team and the revenue, that wouldn't be a double standard.

I know all of my son's middle school teachers pretty well, I love this group of 8th grade teachers, they are an amazing group of teachers.

"I never said that, did I?"

I know you never said that, that is why I asked the question.

What kinds of events are you considering a child to go to that are unsupervised?

Among the things my children were allowed to do unsupervised by middle/high school age were movies, sporting events, bowling, playing around the neighborhood, going to a store.

Huh?

<<No, do your children? Attendance is taken everyday in the morning for school, just like every other school they have been in since daycare. Heck..my boss takes attendance everyday-lol!!>>

My younger son who is still in elementary school, yes..the older son, no.

Here even the sporting events are very supervised. I hadn't been to a HS football game in about 10 years. I hadn't EVER been to one in this district. So, I went with dd to her first one. I needed to see the setup, the supervision, etc.

Man, they have those kids locked down!

<<Are you aware of how long his clubs and activities are? When she is home alone, it is for about an hour.>>

Of course.

Your reply makes no sense.

I asked:

"Does it also mean that you will not ever let your child go to any events unsupervised?"

To which you replied:

"I never said that, did I?

To which I replied:

"I know you never said that, that is why I asked the question."

To which you replied:

"yes"

Then later in your post you state:

"As things come up, they will be decided if it is appropriate for the child's age, who they are going with, etc."

First you stated that you will not ever let your child go to any events unsupervised, then you stated it will be decided as it comes up. Both cannot be true.
