? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

"No, I have friends and family that would be able to help me out for awhile. Like I said, my son starts kindergarten in 5 months."

Does kindergarten cover your entire work time? If you were looking for another job, would you limit yourself to jobs with school hours only? I'm just a bit surprised that a child entering kindergarten would mean the end of any extra expenses for child care.

<<1. My son only has 5 more months of daycare, if this did happen within this time, I would find friends and family to watch him if I needed to go find a job before he started ft school.>>

What do you mean if needed?

They would be able to care for your son every weekday for 5 months?

So you could pull your son out of daycare for a month or so...then put him right back into the same daycare?

If you lost your job today, you have friends and family that would watch your kid, for free, for the following 5 months?

Your insurance expenses would increase, you have already said that, and depending on the company, the coverage may not be as good, so you likely would have more medical expenses too.

No, kindergarten would cover 6 hours and then after care for another 2.

Don't think I understand your question. I would look for fulltime employment like I have now.

That's the way it is here too. I know because I checked into when I quit to become a sahm. I thought why not get paid too, until they burst that bubble, lol.

Some are.

I guess it would depend on how badly you wanted another job.

What I am saying is that I highly doubt (life is NOT perfect though-lol!!) I will be going through this in the next 5 months that I would have to worry about finding care for my son if I needed to find a job.
