? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Why are you bringing nights and weekends into the discussion?

So, don't give personal examples....since you know so many people whose experiences are different from yours, please share a couple of reasons that a small family would need three incomes, yet not be able to save.

These 30 people don't have anything regularly planned with their day?

What makes you so convinced that they can not run around or spread out in an apartment or in a rental?

If your only problem with public playgrounds (beyond lack of privacy) is the lack of a dog run, can you understand how public playgrounds would be a benefit for people whoe DON'T need a dog run? Since dd is an only, I found the lack of privacy to be a feature, not a bug. It put her in the company of other kids, some of whom she ocassionally played with.

Yes, 30 people, right now. I am active in a very service-oriented church, and most of my extended family lives in the same city as me. And no, I do not think it is common, as demonstrated by my statement "I know that this is not the case with many people".

Again, at the time, RE was bought cash here. So, he did not invest the equivalent of a monthly mortgage payment, he invested a lump sum of 500K.
