? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I don't think you do since after all, you keep claiming that the employer can decide if benefits are received or denied when that is clearly not the case.

I was depending on it because all our schools were changing over to it but then they decided to move it up to the following year because construction would not be finished for the new rooms in time for all of the elementary schools.

just be prepared that full day isn't really 'full day" you know...liza went to "full day" kindergarten..which got out at 1;30 -- to which I said to her teacher "on what planet is that the whole day?" LOL.

NY State has the LAST say. The employer tells the state WHY this person was let go and from what they report is how the state determines. If the reason is NOT what is state determines to not deny benefits, then the employee will get benefits.

Fullday kindergarten, which started in 2004, is from 8:30-2:30 and then after-care is from 2:30-6:00.
