? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I love Wikipedia:

"Girl Friday is a variation on the term Man Friday, which is itself an idiom derived from the character of the Robinson Crusoe tale.

It is used to describe an especially faithful female servant. It is also used to describe a girl or woman who is employed in an office to do several different jobs, helping other people.

Some regard the use of "girl" in this context as patronising, or representing sexist attitudes and so prefer the alternative "Woman Friday". However, Girl Friday continues to be used, particularly in the UK. It was used in the name of the movie His Girl Friday and the television series Girl Friday."

I don't think you are both realizing that you only have 1-2 people (sometimes 3 in your condo) and ducky has 7 people (sometimes 8 when her brother/bil-not sure which one stays with them). We have 4 people in a 3 bedroom house but I could not imagine having 3 kids in one bedroom and then 2 in another and not feeling cramped.

but what you are failing to understand is that 1) Ducky is not you 2) cramped means different things to different people and 3) Ducky and her husband made a sound responsible financial decision to do the best for their family and 4) she did not 'LOSE" her house and 5) her family is a happy healthy family so .....

We were posting at the same time....I totally agree!

And I can't imagine living on Long Island but I certainly don't wonder why other people do.

There is a reason why bunk beds were invented. :-) With adequate organization, use of space, and personal hygiene, I really don't see what the big deal is with people sharing a bedroom.
