? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

No, we do not plan to move anytime soon. We have owned our home for almost 12 years and we ARE out of the ordinary than most as our house is considered a "starter home" and we are still here years later and with 2 kids.

As others have mentioned how things change over the years with families, so have our financial situation and we have been able to save more money over the last couple of years and we are starting to have a nice nest egg :)

I am guessing she means increase in equity due to the market rising, not due to having paid the mortgage off. That would make sense, to plow that equity gained into increasingly larger homes (if that is what floats your boat).

True, but back when I used to see it once in a while, it was usually advertised as a guy/girl Friday to get around the gender thing. That was, of course, long enough ago that positions for secretaries were also advertised.

Well, it does (again, if that's what "floats your boat"), but just the equity won't do it.

This is the size of our rooms:

Master Bedroom: 15 x 12

1st Bedroom: 13 x 9

2nd Bedroom: 12 x 9

Kitchen & Eat in Kitchen Combined: 18 x 12 (Kitchen alone is 10 x 10)

Living Room: 16 x 13

Many bedrooms in the small 3 bed/1 bath ranch IME are only about 10 x 10 and can only fit a bed and dresser and maybe a nightstand.
