? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

sure. She went through bankruptcy and she lost it -- she went back to school full time trying to survive on two part time jobs and her PI job basically never gave her any hours, her other job paid peanuts and going to school just destroyed her financially but she faced up to it, went through what she had to do, got a place she can afford and is now already outearning me significantly in her new nursing career. She has a long road of course but she faced everything head on and the bankruptcy was definitely the last resort after a long long hard financial road. She found an awesome landlord who recognized she was a good person to rent to and she's back on her feet now and getting her savings built back up and dealing with her school loans... so...onward.

you guys must move in WAY different circles as I know exactly um...no one who bought a house b/c they "simply HAD to have it" -- a new sweater maybe but not a house LOL

Well that is great that she was able to move ahead.

Her example is just one, I am sure of many, who lose their homes and go on to renting.

sure...and someday she'll own again if we ever buy a place jointly. however, you do understand that her story is not Ducky's story... there was no "losing of a home" in Ducky's situation...you know that right?

You can believe what you want to believe as this is an online messageboard and I do not know anyone that personal to know what really happens in their lives.

I don't remember you saying before that Kelly went bankrupt and lost her home (even though you might have). Do you HONESTLY think that everyone tells the 100% truth online to people they really do not know.

P.S. I personally do NOT want to get into this again though :)

you know what? I know I tell the truth and I believe others do as well. No I haven't mentioned kelly's bankruptcy before... but that's ok it never came up and it was just something we went through and now it's behind us. but it's still real. I do believe people. I do. and I believe Ducky. Sorry.
