? for working moms

My son is six months old, and I have been back to work full time for four weeks.

I became upset over the weekend when two people (who are very close to me) made comments such as: "it seems like it would be so much easier to drop your kids off at daycare and work full time than to stay home", and even worse, "it's clearly easier to work and have someone else raise your kids than stay home". Both were stated by mothers who have never been in the position of working full-time with children. I disagree thoroughly with both comments (my life is certainly NOT easier now that I'm back to work!)

So... without stiring up the hornet's nest that is the "mommy war"... I am curious, how can I respond to statements like this? Should I respond, or just let it go? How long does it take to get over hearing hurtful things like this?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

No. Do you know people who live in that town?

"IME people do not plan to stay in one home longer than 5 years so they plan for this move for years."

Nope.

Absolutely. I was trying to be specific that it was only the monthly payment that was the same. While there is a big difference between having the same mortgage and the same mortgage payment, I've noticed a lot of people claiming the former when they mean the latter. I was just trying to explain what the people did who have kept the same monthly payment.

Hopefully enough to pay off all the furniture you bought on installment, at least.

Like I said before, I do not know as I was only told how much the houses were bought and sold for (that is public info if I was not told) and that her mortgage stayed the same in all 3 homes.

lololol!!! Enough and more and I don't worry about that as I save each month for that and make interest off of the savings so after the furniture is paid off I have made money off of it. Did that with my couch that is totally paid off for now for months.

"Most people IME only stay in their 1st homes for 5 years and then move up to something larger."

Total generalization.
