When I said that, I was trying to answer the OP's question of whether a longer maternity leave would affect working status.

No, it wouldn't have affected my decision to continue as a wohm. For ME, it's what I was MEANT to do (being a mom and a teacher).

Really, the only thing I did differently because I was plnning on returning to work before my children were weaned is freeze more breastmilk.

planning on returning to work separates the two.

that length of leave would have no effect on the ultimate decision of whether or not to go back to work.

but it can't can it?

Here you have to return to the job (even if it is to give your two weeks notice), otherwise you do have to pay back the maternity leave.

I think you are making this more complicated than it has to be. You have a job, you are a WOHM. Don't have one, you are a SAHM. Are you telling me that any SAHM who plans on going back to work someday is not really a SAHM? Or that there was some real difference in the way our kids were parentedin the six to eight months that we were home with them?

"Are you telling me that any SAHM who plans on going back to work someday is not really a SAHM?'

LOL, by that theory i was not a SAHM even though I was AH for 12.5 years because I expected that at some point I would return to work.
