Favorite Christmas song?

What is your last work day of the year?

Have you ever gone away for Christmas?  Not as in visiting family but on a vacation.

I have two, secular, Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams.  Religious, Angels We Have Heard on High.

This year it is a little messed up. I had enough vacation time to work until the 23rd and then go back on the 2nd.   My boss is taking his entire family to Disney World for Christmas so we will be closed the entire week of Christmas.  Since I will be off on the 23rd that means that I have to work on the 31st.

No, we have never gone on vacation for Christmas.

1.  Growing up both my parents and older sisters were in various choirs.  I love the sound and harmonies of a choir.  My favorite Christmas songs are traditional carols--Oh, holy night (love Josh Groban's version, don't even mind Celine Dion's rendition and I generally hate her music), and "I Wonder as I Wander."   also really like "Lullay My Liking". I used to love Carol of the Bells, but it's kind of overdone now, although I still like Mannheim Whosiewhatsits version of it.

2. Um...the 31st.  but I'm not coming in.

3.  No.  We've danced around it with vacations within a couple weeks before and a couple weeks after, but never on the week.  I'd like to spend a week on one of the Caribbean leeward islands--a good internet friend of mine lives on one and it's one I've visited on a cruise and would like to spend more time.  But that's not likely for several more years.  And could potentially cause lots of hurt feelings at home, so it may end up being another one that dances around the event.

I have a few favorites, My favorite church songs are Joy to the World and Let there be Peace on Earth, My favorite holiday song pop style is probably the Sting/Bing Crosby rendition of Little Drummer Boy, I also like Where are you Christmas, Faith Hill or Mariah Carey?  My kids' last school day is tomorrow, they don't go back until 01/06, DH works before and after the holiday so he has little time off.  Never.

1.. I love. "Oh Holy Night" sung well. Sung badly, it's a crime against humanity. 2. My schedule is pretty much my own over the next month. There is work to be done (plenty of it, actually), but no classes to teach until after Martin Luther King Day. I will go in today for a few hours, but don't have anything mandatory and work-related on the calendar until 21 December. 3. Never vacationed over Christmas, but we did move across country over Christmas once. It was my older son's first Christmas. We had Christmas dinner in a truckstop in Arizona. It was like something from a bad country song.

You mean David Bowie. Sting and Bing never performed together.

It's too bad Sting and Bing never performed together, particularly in the Spring. The world had missed the great Sting and Bing Spring Fling thing.

Favorite Christmas song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7miUUr4Zd0 The girls are wearing their Lucia dresses, which is a Scandi tradition.

What is your last work day of the year? We'll see.

Have you ever gone away for Christmas?  Not as in visiting family but on a vacation. Yes, when I was a kid we spent one Christmas in Morocco and one in Rome. Both great trips. Dh always used to travel on Christmas when he was single. We would do it now too, but we have all these dogs, and I don't want to mess up the dog sitter's Christmas.

^^^^ This is also pretty cool. My only complaint about the Orthodox church is the lack of Bach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFnW_CrPUlA
