What do you think were the top stories this past year?

I don't think I can take a "news" survey where the choices start out with the Casey Anthony trial, the Royal Wedding, and Suri Cruise wearing high heels.

Oh, la-dee-dah! ;) My standards have been completely shot by dh, who is extremely fnd of reading aloud to me the headlines from the Drudge Report, AND insisting that they constitute news. @@

If we had a LIKE button (and I wish we did) I'd be hitting it right now.

I just find it bizarre that this is a year that saw the Arab Spring, toppling of Quadafi, execution of Bin Laden, fifteen thousand or so people die in the Japanese eartthquake, the debate over the debt ceiling here in the USA, the final US spaceflight for the foreseeablee future, and I don't know what all else, and none of those things appear as top stories. But Kim Kardashian does.

And besides that, Michelle Duggar is pregnant for the 19th time. Surely that's as important as Kim Kardashian.

Picky, picky, picky! ;) Kim Kardashian is sort of dark and has kinda foreign name. She could pass for an Arab. Maybe she-who-must-not-be-named designed the poll :D

20th time. Do *try* to keep up with the important news, won't you? ;P

And my vote is the tsunami in Japan.

Puss, Puss, Puss. She's having her 20th child, but it's her 19th pregnancy. There's two sets of twins and a miscarriage involved.
