Advice: The big "talk"

Okay, I need advice on when people started or will start to have the big "talk" with their kids.

My oldest is going to be 9 next week. I have some friends telling me they already had this talk with their children at this age. She just seems so young to me. She still plays house, school and dolls with her little sister. IMO, telling her about sex is going to take some innocence away from her. But, am I sheltering her too much?

She knows about periods and body hair development. She already has little breats "bumps" (as she likes to call "em).

Agghhh..I really thought I had until she was 12 to have this talk like my mother did.

What is everyone's opinion?

Why not? The second page was youth shoes, i.e. for bigger kids.

The shoes I buy at those places last about 1 season which is about how long they fit my dds. They wear the same shoe size so I can't pass them down. It makes sense to buy less expensive shoes and let the kids wear them out while they still fit than to buy more expensive shoes that may hold up but will be filthy in a season. Who wants to hand shoes like that down anyway?

My kids are tiny and usually wear shoes through at least two rounds of the relevant season. Three years was longer than usual for her, but only by about a year. As I wrote in another post, ds is wearing the same winter boots for the third year in a row.

"On top of that the tromp through the woods and feilds constantly in the summer. "

Dd while climb up anything and tromp through anything she can. We live 2 minutes walk from a larger nature preserve :-).

Mine doesn't even dress like a girly girl. She's a fearless little daredevil who's been scaring the life out of her parents and teachers for years now :-). Shoes never look new for long, but they hold up physically very well for the 1-2 years she wears them (i.e. they don't break, tear, develop holes or become ill-fitting in any way).

Don't they usually wear winter boots to school? I have to admit that when I comes to winter shoes and kids, I only know the Swedish system. The kids always wear winter overalls and water-proof, thick, lined boots to school in winter. They change into "house shoes" (usually something like birkenstocks) when indoors and have to take extra shoes with them for gym classes. Since the kids spent at least an hour outside every day regardless of weather, they need proper winter boots with them at all times....

I think that a child should have a SAHM.

My girls wore shoes like that until they were 11 or 12. Maybe not with the flowers, but more or less like that. Round toes, flat heels, a strap or maybe no strap.
