Advice: The big "talk"

Okay, I need advice on when people started or will start to have the big "talk" with their kids.

My oldest is going to be 9 next week. I have some friends telling me they already had this talk with their children at this age. She just seems so young to me. She still plays house, school and dolls with her little sister. IMO, telling her about sex is going to take some innocence away from her. But, am I sheltering her too much?

She knows about periods and body hair development. She already has little breats "bumps" (as she likes to call "em).

Agghhh..I really thought I had until she was 12 to have this talk like my mother did.

What is everyone's opinion?

My experience was just the right amount of blush to disguise my imminent demise from anemia, not enough to make my cheeks visible from the cheap seats of the theater.

Hey now! My dh shaves his head with a razor, and has done so since he was 23. It has nothing to do with balding. I hope people don't think that. ROFL Then again, knowing his personality, the last thing anyone would think of him is that he's insecure.

On a lot of men, shaved head is sexy!

I, otoh, do not mind. It takes all kinds to make the world go around and I want my kid to know, understand and respect that. it would only concern me if she started thinking that she might as well skip college too.

I don't know why anyone would use scented soap or perfume for any other reason than as an enhancement (Personally, I hate the stuff because it gives me migraines and buy everything I can perfume-free). Moisturizer, otoh, has a lot to do with physical comfort. My face gets very dry in winter and it actively hurts if I don't moisturize. I don't have that problem in summer so I don't use any moisturizer then.

I clarified later... I meant "scented soap, moisturizer..." as in scented soap and scented moisturizer.

Because without a working knowledge of the culture, how can one judge that it is classism?

Um....because they go with my bathroom?

Seriously, I buy my shampoo and bodywash because the color/scent matches my bathroom and I really like that. I'm not that keen on the scent, although I don't hate it. But in the height of pollen season, it DOES bother my allergies.

But ::::whining;::: it look so nice in the shower!!!
