Is this an age related thing?

(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)
I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

for a person to claim they know a lot about alcohol - not knowing what type of alcohol you're drinking when trying to make a point about experience with alcohol ruins the persons credability.
and then backtracking and using a language barrier as an excuse makes it even that much funnier. annisette is annisette - thats the american name of the type of alcohol she was drinking. it doesn't matter if it was bucca or ouzo or a german type...it was annisette. which is, BTW an apperteif (although some may classify it as a cordial - it doesn't matter to me).
its odd, that you would jump all over xenoxany for not being able to spell a word - but not cdmamnyell for not being able to tell teh difference between a type of alcohol, and a brand of alcohol, or what classification white zin is, for that matter.
>><>
In this thread, it is.<<
why? the brand name is in a language she already states she had littl eunderstanding of, and can't remember anyway. for all we know, she could have been drinking a annisette called "uncle harry's big toe". will that make a difference?
ah, it started a while back - even the mention of this shot she took was a response to something i said. we had been debationg teh validity of drinks like white zin, and whether or not its appropriate to drink certain things at the dinner table.
i was told that my experience was limited - and i didn't know what i'm talking about.
so i pointed out some posts that indicated i was not the one with limited knowledge, and the posts began rolling in LOL.
*shrug*.
jager was a good guess though. even though its a honey based drink ;)
I did skip a few posts and skimmed a few others so I must have missed the bulk of the argument.
Jager was the only drink I could think of that sounded German. Sambuca is the only one I know of that tastes like black licorice. Yuck. :>
But FTR it does sound like you do know a lot about different types of drinks. To me anyway. :)
people judge all the time. people, and businesses need to be able to be dicerning about the people they let into their lives or businesses. to make a judgment based on behavour that is observed (and in fine dining you are observed intently) is perfectly within their rights.
i'm sure you make the same kinds of judgments about people all thet ime. folks you work with, perhaps neighbours, potential friends? some of them i'm sure you never "invited back" into your life.
why is this any different?
the only type of judgment i rail against is that made on outward appearence(s) (or sexual orientation), rather than behavour.
all else is discernment - something we ALL do.
jager is a close second to bucca IMO - but it tastes more like cough syrup than licorice LOL.
i can't stand licorice anything - annistette drinks, cookies or cakes, candies...eeewww! so i'm with you on taht one ;)
and thanks, BTW.
