(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)

I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

It's legal tender and good for all debts public and private, right?

I think it's a bit goofy, but I wouldn't use the word tacky.

lol, oh boy, I have no idea what you are talking about AND it has nothing to do with money. It has to do with the fact seperating eight checks is not as easy as one click. AS you claim it is.

Sure, its legal tender. But dumping out a bag of dirty pennies, nickels and dimes onto the table to pay for two meals, is tacky. I would be too embarassed to do something like that, I'm an adult, and dumping out the piggy bank is for kids. Sure, kids do stuff like that, its fine IF YOU ARE A KID. But as an adult, I'd go to a Coinstar machine or my bank, and trade the coins in for bills. I'd just feel low class doing something like dumping bags of pennies to pay a $20 tab.

As a customer I don't "need" to do anything. As the manager, you (in the abstract) NEED to be supervising the floor actively and should already be aware of any shortcomings in your waitstaff. If I feel I should be giving a 10% tip, I have no further obligation.

I have to question the sense of habitually returning to a place of business where service is so lacking that "...we've received free meals, free desert for the kiddos because of poor service plenty of times..."

So don't do it. Doesn't seem too difficult to avoid.
