(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)

I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

yep, i agree. to me it seems confuisng as to why a group of people would want to dine out together, share drinks and food and then split everything up so clinically. or why its unreasonable to have one bill for one table.

i mean, when we go out, we're sharing bottles of wine, appetizers, desserts - even our meals get "tasted" if we're out somewhere new. i can't imagine trying to split up everything according to who had what.

"OK, i had two glasses of wine from the first bottle, and one frmo the second, two bites of this app, one of that, three of the other one, and i ate half of so and so's surf and turf, but so and so had a quarter of my pasta, so i owe exactly......"

jiminy cricket LOL. thats what we'd have to do. LOL!!

Very true.

<>

Where do you live?

<>

I need cash so rarely, that I don't think about it-- usually when I'm on my way to the event where I need it.

<>

See for me it varies widely-- and I often eat at new places so I have no idea how much things will cost. And even if I am going to a place where I have a general idea, I might decide to get an alchoholic drink at the last minute or a dessert or something else. Which would through off my total. Or perhaps the service was particularly wonderful and I'll want to leave a bigger tip than I had planned on.

<>

It isn't. But it isn't my duty as customer to make the waitress's job as easy as possible. I am polite. I tip well. I don't make crazy dietary requests. I don't think that asking for split checks (or accepting them when offered) is so inconvenient as to make me a rude customer. Having worked in a fast paced customer service atmosphere, there were many things we did that were inconvenient for us and took a long time to do. Doing these things was a part of offering great service to our patrons.

No, that is not what is stated and not what I have experienced.

My little part of the world. LOL! I have lived all over the world and have lived as seasonal residence in many different places for over 10 years. We have opened and sold many resorts, golf communitites, resturaunts, b&b's and inn's. That is what my dh does for a living. We have franchised many of our places, you have probably heard of some. Anyway.

Stress my staff out huh? there is much more to seperating checks then one little click as you claim. When we are on a three hour wait and a table of eight wants seperate checks and another party of five and another party of 10 it backs up the entire system and staff it is a waste of time and $ for all involved.
That is why during a rush and wait we do not offer seperate checks, unless it is requested and then it is still within reasonable limits.

When I was a waitress (years ago, lol) we split checks the old fashion way and there wasn't any extra key strokes really.

Since you dismiss all of my experiences as irrelevant to you, Im not going to bother reading your diatribe. Why would I accept your opinion on my job since it's obvious you have no clue what i do?
