(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)

I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

as i've explained - around here - it is considered rude and/or without class to have your checks split at a five star resteraunt, or to ask for prices. it is also considered wihout class to order and drink white zinfidel, to order shots at the dinner table, to drink beer from a bottle at the table, to order a wine spritzer of *any* kind, to split an entree with another diner (as in, we'll just share one dinner), and the list goes on.

That is exactly why I could never eat in a restaurant like that.

I normally agree with you on your views on things but I gotta tell ya......it doesn't sound like your business thrives on good customer service.

" it is also considered wihout class to order and drink white zinfidel, to order shots at the dinner table, to drink beer from a bottle at the table, to order a wine spritzer of *any* kind, to split an entree with another diner"

Without class to order something a restaurant *offers*? Now that is a new one on me. Why would this place have it available if they don't like these types of patrons?

If it's a pretty ritzy place, I can see beer from the bottle being a little without class, or doing shots, or splitting a meal... but please... ordering a type of wine is without class?????

The ritzy or very expensive places are maybe nice to visit once or twice in a lifetime, but I think most diners here want a comfortable place to eat where they will not be looked down on for ordering something as simple as a wine.

"I like to go to a restaurant that is a bar/restaurant, hole in the wall with awesome food, social waitstaff (we love to chat with waitstaff) comfortable and happy, friendly surroundings....not sipping tea with my pinky out. lol"

I feel the same way. Why would I want to go to a place where the staff think I should be grateful that I was allowed to experience their place? These snobby places are probably more for the people who want to be seen in snobby places (actors and the rich maybe) or people who think it will improve their social status to be seen there. I dont know... I think the average american would just prefer a nice meal out in a comfortable environment.

What are you even talking about?

And you show, once again, that subtle humor is far beyond your comprehension.

I think you didn't read what I posted. I wasn't talking about waitstaff. Try again!

Please explain how you came to the conclusion that Lois is talking about wait staff "telling her no." Because that is not what she is talking about, even a little bit. I need a buzzer in here!
