(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)
I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

Wine doesn't taste any better from crystal than from a regular glass. Beer doesn't taste any better from the a glass than from the bottle. Blacked tuna doesn't taste any better on fine china than on Corell.
While I enjoy "fine dining" from time to time, I'm much much more concerned about the quality of the food. I refuse to be treated like a second-class citizen just to get slightly better (if it even is better) food.
Shoot, dh and I are all excited about where we're going for lunch on Tuesday. It's a hole-in-the-wall in the middle of OKC's asian district. They don't have tableclothes, they serve the drinks in styrofoam cups, they hand-write the checks, they don't take anything but cash, and you pay upfront. Dh and I will be the only non-asian speaking people in the place. But man the food rocks. We'll be in/out of there in 45 minutes, for about $12 (total, not each). And it will be the best meal we've had in months.
Shrug. I know many people that wouldn't even set foot in the place because it isn't "fine dining."
ITA.
It's not like the customer is asking to have their car washed. That would be unreasonable. They're simply asking for a separate check.
Or, another analogy. A lady brings a shopping cart full of groceries to the checkout. She unloads half of them. Pays for them. Then unloads the other half and pays with a different check. Does the cashier have the right to tell her she has to ring them all up on one receipt and pay only once? No.
This stuff happens all the time. All over the world. In all sorts of businesses.
Shoot, my parents own a movie theatre. Many times, a family will come in and wnat to pay with a check. Instead of writing one check for admission, and a separate check later for concessions, they'll want to write one check. No problem ... my mother (who is usually working the ticket booth) will tell the concession employee "Add $15 for admission onto their concession total." The person will then get their concessions and admission at the concession booth.
More trouble for my mother? Yep. She has to 1) tell the employee, 2) the employee has to do additional math, and 3) they have to later get the admission money from teh concession register and transfer it to the admissions register. Unreasonable? No. Why? Because they made a customer happy.
Or, a movie goer will want to rent a DVD as well. They'll pick out the DVD and pay for admission with one check. The my mom will hold the DVD at the front desk for them so they don't have to keep track of it during the movie. More work? Sure. Does she tell them no? No way!

Nah. That's okay too. I don't see why taking a shot of tequila is any different than having two fingers of neat scotch.
Oh yeah, because Scotch is classy and tequila is not. BAER.
Nope.
Johnny's in El Reno has the best burgers in the world. They were even written up in Epicurious magazine. GASP! A magazine that usually deals with fine dining giving kudos to a greasy spoon! How dare they!

Our resturaunts has been written up in two magazines by critics we have been on national television. We are doing just fine, in every avenue of this business. we have coyote ugly nite...Once a month I love it, i have a feeling you may too?
If a customer cannot accept for three hours in the evening that you may not have seperate checks for tables during a wait, we do not need the hassle of the unruly customers who cannot except no for a answer or the buisness and i mean literally.
I really do not know what you are speaking of about unruly customers. If a unruly customer is unruly three times they are either asked to leave or barred for a period of time.
We have never had to bar a person forever. LOL! thats a joke. We feed homless pll, our customers needs are met but it is our buisness and we have to decided what works the best to keep Great staff happy also they are just as important as our customers they are our FAMILY! Happy wait staff creates GREAT customer service. WE have so many other important thing to focus on in giving great service during a wait and rush then seperate checks. The items ar all itemized they should be able to see exactly what each one owes on one bill.
Just b/c a waitstaff says no im sorry we do not have seperate checks does not imply bad attitude or not being positive, it is just the way it is. Like having no pepsi,
btw this is only for big parites for three hours a nite.
