white zin is NOT a dessert wine LOL its a blush wine, originally it was acheap jug wine. port is a dessert wine, icewine is a dessert wine white zin is NOT.

white zin is made from zinfandel - made intentionally to sweeten it up. here is some infor on white zin for you, just so you can get the right information.:

White Zinfandel

White Zinfandel is not a white wine but rather what's called a blush wine in the United States and a rosé or blanc de noir in France. It's made from zinfandel (a red-wine grape) and kept pale in color by quickly removing the skins from the juice after the grapes are pressed, which stops the transfer of color from the grape skin's dark pigments. The wine is then processed as for white wine. The resulting color generally varies from pale pink to apricot to salmon. Most White Zinfandels are slightly sweet, although some are quite dry with just a whisper of residual sugar. Introduced in the United States in the late 1970s, White Zinfandel wines found a niche in the early 1980s as the white-wine boom took off and producers searched for a channel for the red-grape surplus.

Historically an inexpensive jug wine, White Zinfandel is a quaffing wine that is sweet, low in alcohol, and soft, making it a popular choice with those who would not otherwise drink wine. This frequently makes zinfandel a target of ridicule among many wine connoisseurs. Depending on the amount of sugar it contains, White Zinfandel can taste almost like a fruit punch, although some examples have crisp acids and are balanced in their own way. It is rare when a White Zinfandel is not manufactured with the intention of immediate consumption.

the flmaing drink you're referring to is is a type of annisette (brands vary depending on where you are) - served with coffe beans, and *sometimes lit up*. the flame burns up the alcohol content....you're not supposed to DRINK the flames with the alcohol. it comes in both light and dark varieties - and the lighetr variety is the one most commonly set alflame.

but perhaps you should debate alcohol with someone who hasn't been a bartender - because you do NOT take that as an all at once shot. you'd be drinking several ounces of liquor at once.

either that, or you need a serious refresher on how to drink.

sambucca is a brand name - but yes, that is the most common brand here for that particular drink/liquor.

It sounds like this is what she may be talking about-- and it can be drunk while still on fire. The mouth extinguishes the flame.

we serve tequila straight in a rocks glass or snifter here. (depending on if you want it neat or not). and people do sip it. to which i give them a great deal of credit and respect. thats tougher than sipping whiskey straight.

shot glasses are notoriiusly too small to gracefully sip from - hence the dribbling-or shotting to prevent such dribbling. however, talking it all in one gulp is still not classy - gulping is typically thought of as ill mannered. but to each her own.

but it looks to me like you are talking about drinking, rather than shooting. (with the exception of tequila) a person doing a mind eraser is NOT doing it for the taste, thats for sure.

hmmm, i've never once mentione dthe term, white trash - not offered up that folks drinking water were trashy, or even looked down upon.

it seems to me that there is a faction in the thread that feels any place that requires their patrons to act in a certain manner are horrible places or it is a personal insult to them - which simply isn't true.

they just want patrons who have a basic understanding of table etiquette.

you're supposed to blow it out first though. the whole idea is that the flames burn off some of the alcohol, and if it is served with beans, the beans are supposed be "toasted" by the flame, lending a wonderful flavour to the drink - then is it supposed to be sipped - but some people gulp it down. which defeats the whole purpose of it.

but hey - if you're down with extinguishing matches on your tongue, i don't see why flaming drink would be any different ;)
