(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)

I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

It certainly wasn't even close to the drink you pointed out . . . that couldn't possibly be drunk as a shot because it involved several shots of liquor . . . I thought you weren't supposed to sip shots?

They make shot glasses pretty large now.

its done the same way as a carbomb - the entire drink is taken as quickly as possible. some people can literally just open their throats and drink it all down, mostpoeple end up gulping it though.

it is a hard shot to do, and most people make a mess of themselves doing it.

the new jager bomb is a shot of jager dropped into that alcoholic energy drink (i forgot what its called...)

Depends on what that "certain manner" is. If that "certain manner" means you can't have a glass of white zinfandel, then yeah, it's rather insulting. (FTR, I don't drink white zin. I don't drink many white whines at all.)

Those place often want wayyyy more than basic table etiquette. Or at least hte places I'm speaking of.

In fact, even my greasy spoon hole in the wall expects basic table etiquette.

you're not supposed to sip shots...sambucca can be taken as a shot, but IME it isn't done often, unless its the dark smabucca. however the drink with the coffee beans is what we had been talking about (you don't put coffee beans in a shot!).

but even in shot form, you're *supposed* to blow the flame out first. not everybody does though LOL.

we have some casual resteraunts here with options under $20. not much under that amount, granted. once you order taht and a drink you're back up over $20 again!

i'm actually astounded at how high the costs are here. i hadn't realized how high they were until this thread - i'm wondering why we're paying as much more as we are.

i've been talking abotu teh staff - not other customers (just to keep that clear).

i also didn't say that it would be *just* the ordering of a white zin that would make a resteraunt not take their reservation again either...i made mention of that WRT splitting teh check. its that the staff would judge - not stop serving - based on certain things you may or may not order (or try to order) or ways you may behave.

i would have to guess that if a table did multiple things that could make a staff member/server judge you poorely as a customer, then their reservation probably wouldn't be taken again either. they do want to maintain a particualr type of clientel, so they can mainatian a particular atmosphere.

you just exaplained a drink (that is common) of annisette, with coffee beans in it. sometimes it is lit on fire.

how did you manage to get the coffee beans in the shot glass, AND do it as a shot without choking?

or could it be, that you are confused as to what you actually had? as you've already pointed out, it was al ong time ago, and you don't remeber the night very well.

Or maybe you don't know as much about drinks as you think you do . . . Serve in a shot glass - warm Sambuca, light on fire, drop in coffee bean. Chug without burning mouth.
