(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)
I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

"There was one in Germany (and my brain is shot--i couldn't remember the name of it to save my life) that was popular. It was a bit licorice-y tasting, was served aflame and with a coffee bean floating in it."

"It might be. It was more than 20 years ago and I wasn't really paying that much attention. :)"

she readily admitted that she doesn't really know and can't really remember. i simply called her on it. thats fair game in debate. not to mention that the drink she describes fits very well with the drink i've been discussing.
what i did not do was acuse her of being too drunk to remember.

Note your own words ... CAN become extremely unruly. Not WILL. Not all customers will become unruly when denied separate checks.
Did you know? That classy people drinking cab sav can also become unruly? ANYONE is capable of becoming unruly ... classy or not.

Directly? No. It was heavily implied. It was stated that it caused stress and caused the wait staff to be harried.
Your right. Im just not sure what the big deal is about? During a busy time for big parties seprate checks are not available. We do not offer reservations, unless it is a actual party and they have called ahead. If a cuatomer is commin just for cocktails during a the dinner rush, they may not take up a table, in the dinning room, they must go to the bar/area community table. None of this has ever effected any business Iam familiar with. You have to set limits, in any buisness. You have to do what works best for everyone involved. Which includes customers.
Iam sure it is a personal prefrence, although sometimes ppl have to learn to accept "no, im sorry, we cannot do that for you". It is just the way it is.

i know what i said, i siad this from the very beginning, If a customer insists on something, when they have already been told no, im sorry, that imo pretty much implies unruly to me.
<>
Um yes, of course i know that, i have said that many times no where have i claimed onlu ppl who want seperate checks can get unruly,i also never implied ppl who would like sseperate checks are not classy.
<>
Um no it was not heavily implied by me that wait staff cannot handle seperate cehcks...I have maintained all along that is causing stress to the entire system, which could include the customers who have been waiting for that eight top much longer than they should have b/c of dealing with all the uncessary transactions of seperate checks, during a dinner rush. Who said harried?
I think you are missing the entire point why many resturaunts do not offer speperate checks during a busy time to big parties.
<< a waitress/waiter, is not a cashier>>
Except they ARE. they are doing a job of the cashier when they present your check, accept your money, and bring back you change. In fact, usually teh wait staff will say, upon presenting the check, "I'll be your cashier when you're ready."
I have never heard ill be cashier when your ready. lol, i think that is silly. Most places iam familiar with including mine may say ill take this when your ready. A waitress is not a cashier, cashing out checks is part of their job. There is a major difference.
When you are a casheir at a grocery, that is your job, your focus, same as a cashier in a movie theatre or a retail store. B/c a witress cashes out checks does not give her the title of cashier.

A waitress is not a cashier by title, not by sole job duty. however, they do cashier duties as part of their job. It can easily be justified to say since they act a a cashier, that they are part cashier.
