(Totally OT, not SAH/WOH related, so feel free to not respond)

I went out with 5 other women to dinner last night.

Sorry, get a little frustrated when someone plays dumb and is deliberately obtuse. You're right though, I should just ignore her.

<>

That's nothing more than a lie. From my original post #899--a post you REFERENCED already, and therefore, I have at least some expectation you might have read it at least once, if not twice.

<>

The "one in Germany" is specifically speaking of one kind of drink as the context to follow makes clear -- I doubt the restaurant or the experience dining can be described as follows

<>

*A* coffee BEAN. singular.

The information was all there; all you had to do was read what was actually written outside the filter of what you wanted it to say.

Except you haven't described a classy restaurant; you've described rude, humiliating, obnoxious, snobbish behavior supported by over-indulged prices. Not inviting a customer back is humiliating them. Judging them openly, on the floor (by telling them the wait staff would judge their choice of inferior wine) is humiliating them. And it's all for no-good purpose. Classy people, whether they own a restaurant or dine there, simply don't deliberately and openly humiliate other people. So if the restaurant wants a "classy" environment, they need to start in-house, not by humiliating customers. Restaurants that deal in humiliation are declasse.

Perception? lol, Denial? care to clarify> What exactly would i be denying? That waitresses are not cashiers? Or that cashiers are not baggers? Everyone must work as a team, but if you actually notice even in fast food rest most emplyees have a area they are responsible for. That my dear is the point.

Nice attempt at a spin. Except, not really.

I said I didn't know the name of the drink. You mentioned several drinks by name. Why would I respond to that if I don't know the name of the drink? I wasn't paying that much attention to the owner's naming of the drink because, at the time, 20+ years ago, I didn't know there'd be a quiz. It didn't seem to be so important for me to ask the owner to interrupt his welcoming of us to his restaurant and town, in order to interrogate him on the name of the drink and if it had any foreign, Canadian or American equivalents. Bad on me, I guess.

I described the drink, the glass, the contents and the manner in which it was drunk. More than that, I didn't know and openly said. If you are perturbed that your tossing out of name after name of the kinds of drinks it might have been failed to yield a response from me, oh well. I had already told you I didn't know the name. I don't know how much more clear I could be on that point. Failure to know the name, however, doesn't render the rest of my descriptions invalid.

And for the record I didn't say i was an expert on the NAME of what I was drinking; I said I had a better memory of it than you do. You're going to have to work really hard to dispute that.

the point, however is that not only could you not remember the brand of alcohol you were drinking, but the TYPE of alcohol you were drinking.

which is anisette. the brand, or particualr local name yuo could not remmber is of no consequence. you didn't know what you were drinking, other than it tasted like licorice, and had a bean in it. and, by the way...you don't have to put three beans in it - that is simply customary.

i read your post quite thouroghly...and the post you gave me after that expounded more with the details, such as you having that particualr shot more than once, that it was served in a shot glass etc.

Hard to remember something one never knew. She probably didn't "not remember" the TYPE, but never knew it. She probably only knew, at the time, the NAME. Which is what she forgot.

In this thread, it is.

again, you've yet to actually link to a post where i've stated that the staff openly humiliates, berates, or otherwise says anything to the patron about their choices.

i have repeatedly stated that the judgments come OUT OF EAR SHOT, and not in front of customers.

and not being invited back is only humiliating if the party knows they are being delibratly put on hold with their reservations. all teh maitre d has to say is "i'm sorry, we're all booked up". and its taken care of.

it sounds more and more to me thatpeople who are the most vocal about hating these types of resteraunts have perhpas heard that phrase before from a resteraunt "i'm sorry, we're all booked up". or that they have felt entirely uncomfortable in the resteraunt when there.

sour grapes, and all that.

again, i mentioned the TYPE of alcohol you were drinking - not the name brand.

you had to describe the drink by taste and presentation - which is a clear indication that you don't know what you're drinking. which is fine...but don't try and pretend like you did LOL.
