Almost June

The year is just flying by, can't believe it is almost June already.

1. Do you have many celebrations in the month of June?

2. What one alcoholic drink (if you can pick just one) do you enjoy in the summer?

3. At a BBQ, which one would you rather have, a hot dog or hamburger?

Yeah, I'm a little sad that we didn't do all the traditional stuff.  I kind of got all teary eyed at the various graduation parties, and of course seeing all these kids in their caps and gowns.  I'im sure you feel the same way; you've known a lot of these kids since birth or at least since kindergarten, and all of a sudden they are headed off in different directions and their lives (and yours change in a big way).   It was bad enough when the older one left; not sure how we're going to react this fall when it's just us and the animals.

Honestly? I think I'm sadder over the graduation of some of The Girl's friends than I am of her.  (Holy awkward grammar, Batman!)  I'll still see her quite a bit.  Not daily, maybe not even weekly, but at least a couple of times a month.   Her friends? I don't know when I'll see many of them again.  Several of her closest are staying here for college and will actually be living in the dorm that is right behind my building.   But I probably won't see them much.  And one of her closest - and the one I'm probably the closest to - is going to Michigan for college! Wahhhhhh!

How do you manage to have that long of graduation parties when all the kids are graduating the same day and they all want to be at each other's parties?  Honestly, I hate graduation weekend because we typically have anywhere from six to eight parties to attend over the course of four days.  The years when we had kids graduating was even worse!  This year we went to twelve different parties graduation weekend.  There is no way we could have stayed at any one of them for four to five hours.

Usually people have parties into the summer because there are so many.

I ask again, haven't you ever been to  large event where food is brought out fresh on a routine basis?

Yes, like more veggies, chips, dip. Food is usually at one time and I put things out at different times.

That's interesting, are you assuming that no hostess gift was given?  You just brought food, without asking or having the hostess ask you to bring something?   As for doing things for friends, that's kinda the point of hosting a party, wouldn't you think?  lol

Or I might send him/her  thank you gift after the event.  Also, there are many ways to be generals and "do something" for friends that don't include bringing things to parties.</p>

Unless a hostess requests and I almost always ask when I rsvp, I always respect the host wishes on brining food and drink to be consumed during the course of the party.  I think it would be rude to go against the hosts wishes and bring anything other than a host gift unless otherwise requested.

There are some parties that I don't ask to bring anything, nor would I ask or bring something.  That would be really rude.

I know, my son has such great friends...I can't imagine not seeing them on a regular basis!

You haven't ever been to an event or a restaurant that has a buffet that is replinished with the same food?  Every single time it's been new things not a fresh tray of the same food?  Interesting.
