My kids are wanting South Butt jackets. I think it's hilarious.

I call lots of compression clothing UnderArmor, when it's really not. It's just easier to say - and for people to know what you're talking about - than to call it coldweather running gear or compression clothings.

And my Hanes uber-tight-control-undies I call Spanx ... even though they're not.

I waiting (impatiently) for The Girl's feet to grow about half a size. Then I'll be able to wear her shoes.

Point is that there are plenty of less expensive and perfectly good winter boots available. There is no need to buy Uggs.

So far, only one of my kids has mentioned that she wanted something specifically designer - a pair of jeans from a mall store that cost $150. She tried a pair on and said they were awesome. I pointed out all kinds of chores around the house she could do to earn the extra money to buy them, but she stopped after just two. I guess in hindsight she learned that they weren't really that awesome, and promptly found a pair at Target.

and i make the same call, although i'm not likely to tell my kid to put her or his boots on because they're capable of makign that call themselves.

so what's your point.... that because uggs are expensive my kids shouldn't have them?

Just giving examples of times that I call something by a brand name when it isn't actually that brand name.

I'd say I'm about the same.
