No, you can buy your kids whatever you want. I was trying to explain that it is not a question of knock-offs or misnaming boots, just a question of there being less expensive boots readily available.

You often point out that you won't buy your kids iPods and other things you consider status items, so I think it is a little surprising to some that you would shell out major bucks for name-brand boots. But you are certainly free to do so.

My "Uggs" were a pair of old slippers I had. Years ago, before the Uggs craze hit, dh had bought me some lambskin slippers, that were made the same way as Uggs, just not very tall. Then the Uggs thing hit and I was going to Copenhagen in the winter, so I took the slippers and wore them the whole trip. It was perfect, lol. They are great on the plane, easy on/off and they don't squeeze your feet or make them swell.

You trendsetter!.;) I bought some fake Uggs a couple of years ago, and I like them. Ironically, dd1's friend who got real Uggs (the reason dd1 asked for them in the first place) refused to wear them the following year because she decided that wearing suede was cruel to animals. The mom was livid after having spent $160.

LOL, yeah, I am a regular fashion plate, I tell ya. I just thought it was great that a stupid fashion made it perfectly acceptable for me to wear my slippers on the plane and around town.

My daughter is at the age that she buys a lot of her own clothes and extra shoes. We bought her a pair of Ugg knock offs, but she also has two other pairs of boots. I do call her knock off's uggs, if for some reason I mention her boots and need to be specific about which ones I'm talking about.

your argument is skewed, the complaint i've presented before about my hsuband's running shoes is not because they're not good shoes but rather about the money he was shelling out every three months, i can acknowledge that the money i paid for uggs was a lot too, there is no contradiction.

edited to remove last question, it doesn't matter.

My kid has four pair. A pair of riding/western boots, a pair of Ugg knockoffs, a pair of black ankle boots, and a pair of brown knee high boots.
