How is it taking advantage when the company *willingly offers* to do it - for all of their products and all of their customers?

Sav, it seems to me that people have gotten so used to shoddy goods and planned obsolescence that the idea of buying something and expecting it to last a lifetime is "shocking."

If it stops after 7 years, then it isn't a lifetime guarantee.

You equate using a product guarantee to a welfare program?

You've got me scratching my head here. How? Can you explain further? I don't understand.

A seven year guarantee is a seven year guarantee, which is a completely different thing from a lifetime guarantee.

My knives have a lifetime guarantee. I have had them thirty years and they are still functional, but should one need service, I certainly expect the company to come through. It is one reason I bought these particular knives rather than a cheaper knockoff version.

That would be a 7 year guarentee not a lifetime one. I wish my purse had a lifetime guarentee I found one I love. I am thinking about heading back to the mall to buy some more so I will have them in reserve.

it is not a "system," it is a business. This particular business is based in arge part on the lifetime guarantee. Last I checked, LLBean was still in business and doing pretty well.
