Do you arrive for work, doctor appointments, social events, etc on time?  What events (if any) warrant being early for?  Is there anything you purposely show up late for?  Explain.

How about your kids?

Generally speaking, yes. A few weeks ago I walked out of a dr's office after waiting 99 minutes to see him. I told the staff that he wouldn't see me if I were that late, so I was returning the favor. And I'm leaving his practice. I understand that emergencies happen, but the office manager should have called and given me a head's up that he was running so late and the option of rescheduling before I wasted over 2 1/2 hrs of my life (1/2 an hr drive to get there). It is just rude. I tend towards right on time though, not early. Although I'm always early to class b/c I like a little time to get settled before it starts!

How about your kids? Well, since I'm responsible for them, their timing mirrors mine.

Was that the first time you had to wait that long for that dr. Or is it a reoccurring thing every time or many times you go there?

I've waited before, but I can't recall waiting that long. He called me at home that night to apologize. He had an emergency surgery. It happens. But it is completely irresponsible not to notify patients when you're running that far behind...it wasn't the fact that he was running behind that made me angry. It was the fact that no one thought to tell me.

Yeah, I agree that someone should have called. If it was a one time thing, I would have blown it off but if it happens quite a few times, I would change drs.

I remember at my Ob/gyn for my first child, I would have to wait an hour almost every time. With my second child I went to a different doctor and barely waited.

I try to be anywhere from 5-15 minutes early for work and appointments and on time for social engagements unless there is a specific hard starting time (play, game, movie etc) then I am 5-15 minutes early.  I can't think of when it's okay to be late.

My kids are off limits.

People are very rude. The worst is businesses. They say they are open at a certain time and the people are just walking in at that time or getting ready. You should be ready for business at that very minute.

In my banking years we always opened the branch at 9:00 on the dot, Not a minute too early!  We'd have regulars lined up at the doors esp at the end of the month.  I loved that job but I know what you mean about leaving people waiting for you, The general customer service rule is you are at the mercy of them not the other way around.
