Bad Mommy days...

Since Smokey is having a bad mommy and bad husband week, I thought we could share our bad Mommy days. Plus, my tatoo really, really itches and I am trying to get my mind off of it and work is so boring.

Here is mine from a couple of weeks ago: I had been in the ER with Alex for an asthma attack. I almost fell apart and sobbed on the respiratory therapist's shoulder and Alex tore out his IV. It was a really bad night. Then, I took he and Zak to the ped for an hour visit otherwise known as hell on Earth. Alex had a sinus infection, an ear infection and a respiratory infection. Zak had strep throat. I left and got $100.00 worth of prescriptions, had a friend watch the kids so I could get my thirty hours in and came home and collapsed.

Zak comes walking in complaining that his head is bleeding. I look at the clock and think "Well, we can go back to the Ped. if we need to." I check his head and it is bleeding in the back but not a whole lot. I half heartedly asked him what had happened because I am rather terrified at the answer. He said a rock had hit it. I thought he was throwing a rock in the air and it fell on his head. I can't resist so I ask later. He found a string and tied it around the rock and was slinging it around....until it hit him on the back of the head. So, I have one genius of a child that almost knocked himself out and is complaining about his throat and another one that is hiding because I brought the nebulizer out.

I want to win the lottery so I can hire a nanny and a personal assistant.

Not as bad as yours but temporary delusion induced me to take my almost three year old to shop for her Easter dress on Saturday.

We had to ride the subway and the bus...she was so excited she thought the subway was her personal playground and did not want to hold my hand....NOT PRETTY!

She then preceeded to have a "on the floor screaming at the top of my lungs" tantrum in every store and up and down Broadway....enough to have several strangers give me the death glare or come up to HER and ask her if SHE was OK (rolling my eyes)

Then, two nights ago, my teething 6 month old woke up every hour and I got two fragmented hours of sleep.

*sigh*

I'm sorry Kristi, but I had to laugh at Zak's story -- imagining him swinging swinging swinging the rock, having a ball, then bam! ouch. Sorry... it's just too cute. :)

Last night, I had a bad mommy moment: My dd's getting over a cold and it's been dry here so her nose has been getting more and more plugged up with snot. It's gotten dry and hard and large to the point of complete obstruction. I tried to gently get them out but my dd was resisting so I had to hold her down and take them out. She was screaming and crying. On top of my feeling really bad, my dh said to me "you know, we really shouldn't do that anymore. I think you traumatized her." &^#*&! Do you want her to sleep tonight or stay awake because she can't breathe? Then I felt bad because I got so upset at my dh who really didn't mean it like that.

BTW: Zak's gotten another strep throat? Any news about getting his tonsils out?

I am getting his tonsils out on April 8th. The Thursday before Good Friday. My Monster-in-law called today and offered to watch Alex during the surgery. I am rather afraid but I agreed. She is trying and you can't ask more than that.

Zak is ready to get them out. He has had 8 strep throat infections since January of 2002. Can you imagine?

I'm sorry Kristi. I hope your post was meant to be just a little amusing...I couldn't help myself. (it was the rock/string incident)

I'm having a bad Mommy week, as well as a bad Wife week. At least I was. For me though, it's all my own doing. My family hasn't done so much as contract a virus to incite my crabbiness. I replaced my smoking habit with a nicotine-gum-chewing habit (2 years ago) and brilliantly thought I should stop that as well. The result was: hating my life and almost everything about it. Alex and I made a quick trip to the store for the cursed gum and I'm currently making what I hope is a full recovery. Edited to remove foot from mouth.

I've been at this for 11 years. Mine are too numerous and embarrassing to share. Suffice it to say my boys still think I'm the best mom in the world despite my moments of sheer "Bad Momism."

Get the margarita out and I'll join you with a Tanqueray or Plymouth gin martini. Very, very dry. On the rocks. With two jumbo garlic-stuffed olives, thankyouverymuch.
