He was rude. It doesn't sound like he was there to even see the party, so he really doens't know. He is imagining that it cost a great deal to that, most likely. Here we have a hands on science museum and they do parties--even though it is after hours, your party sounds pretty similar to what they would have done, just a different theme. I never thought those were over the top.

I agree about having the party at another place--it is easier on me. That's why I advocated for the swimming party for my dd who will be 14 in 3 days.

The Dad said, "Well, yes, he did, but I hope you know you do not have to go to the trouble of renting a museum to celebrate a child turning six." I thought that was really rude.
