First, the U.S. Preventive Task Force (USPSTF)recommended that most women wait until age 50 to get mammograms, and that all women skip self-exams. Then the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists advised that

I seriously doubt that the new recommendations have anything to do with women waiting later to have babies, since that in and of itself is a risk for breast cancer. Also my ob/gyn didn't do breast exams during my pregnancies because breast tissue tends to become more lumpy in pregnancy because of milk glands being more pronounced.
