They're raising money for public schools. Why on earth would you be sour about that? It would be even more charitable if their own kids will never get the advantage of their efforts.

And....SJP and Matthew Broderick's child is about 2. CKS's children do not go to public schools, but she has a unpaid position raising money for public schools. She uses her connections to raise millions for kids who don't have the options hers do. How awful of her.

Does that answer your questions?

I believe CK wants to raise money for seed schools in NY - they're public boarding schools started in the inner city in Washington D.C. Local children don't pay any tuition, but they stay overnight all week or just part of the wk. All of the graduates in D.C. have gone off to college - many going to the Ivies. It's a fantastic opportunity but obviously not yet City-funded.

What's the difference if the celebs kids attend public schools or not? Isn't it admirable to want to improve the public schools regardless of who is attending? I am sure that celebs kids do not attend NYC schools. In NYC it is pretty common for even middle class people to find the money for private school for their kids.

I think it is even more of a nice gesture to raise money for something that your kids WON'T benefit from than it is to raise money for things for your own kids. It shows that you are truly willing to try to use your influence to benefit other people not just for your own family's benefit.

What do you mean you "treated kids to dinner" last night? Who normally pays for their dinner? And...when you treat your kids to dinner, do you always bring along a newspaper to read?

Sheesh, I may have "neglected" my son by working so he'd have food, clothes, shelter and medical care, but at least I had the courtesy to pay attention to him at dinner.

Why would they raise funds in Iowa? they don't live in Iowa. they live in NYC; they are supporting their LOCAL schools.

and as for the alleged link between them sending their kids to private schools vs, your wholesale slam against Houston public schools, *they* have legitimate concerns for the safety and security of their kids--safety and security issues and concerns that I seriously doubt YOUR children face.

I am going to admit bad mothering here. I usually take something to read if we are going to fast food. I always take something to read at McDonalds and Sonic. If we go to a restaurant with servers, I don't bring anything to read but I rarely take them alone with me.

Of course, I did have a boyfriend break up with me in college because I read the newspaper while we ate. I was terribly rude but my whole family does it. I didn't like him anyway.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
