People that wake up everyday to sunshine regardless of the actual weather, whose lives look peachy perfect b/c of their demeanor, whose energies and smiles motivate you or make you want to strangle them...

Or do you?

Well given again that she has traveled quite extensively for decades now, including this year...this seems to be quite a silly "thing" for you to compare to bord on.  She's not starting them in old age, she is continuing.  I don't think you thought your point out very well because you really have no basis for this line of logic, lol.

And how much of this travel was paid for by the school?

Again, I was talking about past histories.  No, my past is the same as it's always been, I haven't changed it to fit the moment, lol.

He has never been able to drive at night, a Fall. He's night blind. Even when he was in the army at the age of 22, he was excused from nighttime guard duty.

Interesting as this is not what you have said in the past. You have always said that his sight was going and he could NOW not drive (this was just a couple of years ago). Hmmmm....

She just gave you an example of doing and buying things AND saving, did you not read the post?

It matters A LOT if you are saying you were not frugal in the way that you and your dh have traveled many times throughout the years. If you didn't pay for them, then you can't say you spent money on traveling.

"But you limited yourself. You couldn't find the balance of doing and buying things AND saving." No, we found the balance of saving and spending that WE were comfortable with. I am sure it's a different balance than you might have chosen, but our wants, needs, priorities, and philosophies have always been very different.

Yes, some have on this board. I have not.

I don't know her personal finaces but I can read...so I know that the school didn't pay for 100% of travel for her entire family.  I know they didn't pay for extras like museums, and so forth.  I also know that she has done a number of personal vacations around the country every year.

Again, this is really a silly "thing" for you to focus.

No, your balance was specifically for saving. That is why you limited yourself. Either that or you just did not make the salary enough to do both all the time.

No, not silly at all. If you boast about traveling all over and going to Europe and then say that it was mostly paid for by your employer, you are NOT using your OWN money for it.

Bord has never BOASTED about travel ...

Well, some of my year and some of DH's travel has been business tested. But the kids have never been paid for by the school, and often we paid to extend our stats so we could tour around once the business part was over (such as DH taking an extra ten days in a France this fall with his sister).

So the "three weeks" you spoke about your dh going away was actually only 10 days paid by yourself. Don't you usually go on road trips in the U.S. with your kids?

"No, your balance was specifically for saving. That is why you limited yourself. Either that or you just did not make the salary enough to do both all the time." Yes, most people who are saving are also limiting their spending. If they aren't limiting their spending, they aren't saving.
