How much time do you/spouse get off for Christmas?

How are you doing on getting ready for Christmas?

Are you hosting Christmas or going somewhere?

I'm off from tomorrow (12/23) through Wednesday (12/28), will be in the office on Thursday and Friday of next week to close out the year, and then will be back in on the 4th.

We are closed the day after Christmas this year. So I get that off, isn't extra time off since I'll still be working over 40 hours that week. I'm taking PTO day this week because of another commitment.

DH will be working Christmas Eve and Christmas day. He will have rehearsal with then choir on Thursday. The rest of his time is flexible. He'll go into the office when he needs to, work from home some. The office will be closed next week and pretty empty this week.

I only have wrapping, cleaning and grocery shopping left to do.

We are hosting year.

We don't get actual vacation time but I don't have any official duties where I need to get to the office past Wednesday. We'll be ready when the baby gets here. We will host Christmas dinner and other festivities.

From what I understand, we are under a mandatory OT work order this weekend, so we may also be next weekend. But as I am not available this weekend, I won't know until Monday. I'm not planning to take extra leave between Christmas and New Years Eve. I have a few purchases left to make but the outside of the house is decorated and good to go, so nothing to worry about there when I get home. Christmas at the son's house, so about 2 miles away.

We switch from year to year at Thanksgiving, but I've pretty much told everyone that we won't go anywhere on Christmas day. But, everyone does get along really well, so that's not a problem. Their food tastes can be pretty different though, so it's always interesting trying to plan a menu that everyone will eat.

That is nice that both sets of parents get along etc, so you don't have the whole split in two problem. My mother always whines the years (every other) that my brother and his family spend Christmas with his ILs, and probably the ILs whine when it is my mother's turn to have the "kids."

I get quite a bit of time, but I'm using 7 days of annual leave, so I'll have 12/17-1/2 off.

How are you doing on getting ready for Christmas?

I still have a lot to do, mostly baking and wrapping, but I'm almost done with my knitting. I think I only need to go to the store one more time to pick up some things I ordered a couple years ago.

Are you hosting Christmas or going somewhere?

We host Christmas every year for both sides of our families. This year, it's going to be a little bit smaller than usual, because my sister and her family moved across the country and won't be here. I think it's just going to be my parents, MIL & her husband, and DH's grandma. We're having Christmas eve lunch at Dh's grandma's assisted living facility with DH's aunt, uncle, and cousin, and going to my parents house for appetizers Christmas eve evening.

Just about to start cleaning and cooking, not much shopping left.

We host Christmas family dinner and a formal party next Thursday for 30ish of our closest friends. I need the week to prepare.
