I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.

That makes sense.
I think probably mine stemmed from "things I want to do right now and can't". So kind of imaginary random acts of kindness that would have happened had the money been in my account at the time.
Well, yeah, I'm sure that the economy is partially to blame (although those stats came from previous years...not sure how far back) but if someone's not in a position to do it then they should return the angel to the tree, or not pick one up at all.
Let the brain storming begin!
ITA with you that they should not have picked one if they did not intend to buy a gift.
