I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.

1. If you had unlimited amounts of money, what type of Random Acts of Kindness would you do? At Christmas or otherwise.

Well since there are so many other organizations out there, I would rather choose one that truly helps the needy.

Wouldn't they lose their non-profit status if they weren't using the money to help the needy?

To me someone who is advertising to donate your used clothing to help the needy should also inform the public that your clothes most likely will not be going to a needy person. 2 companies are making money off the clothes and the 2nd one has NOTHING to do with helping the needy.

Yes. Charitable foundations have very complicated reporting rules/regulations/tax returns and most be very detailed in reporting of income and expenses.

Agreed and even if the charity sells to a private company (receiving funds that help the charitable organization) and then the private company decides to sell them again, that doesn't take away from the charity, at all. The same could be said for those being given charitable items, there is nothing that stops the person from selling the items that they were given.
