I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.

1. If you had unlimited amounts of money, what type of Random Acts of Kindness would you do? At Christmas or otherwise.

2.

Oh my.....

No one is getting the point that these companies are not FULLY helping people. Or at least the way people THINK they do.

Maybe on LI the clothing bin pickups are tied to the mob a la Sopranos "waste management biz" in NJ?

Exactly - which is why Goodwill's program of employing the mentally and physically disabled and their work with men and women in prison in a return to work programs is so vital.

Well and if goodwill can't find enough people to volunteer to drive trucks or at least responsible volunteers who take their volunteer commitment seriously, how many people would they be able to help? Honestly, clothing bins full of donated clothes that are ruined because they can't be picked up fast enough or that people give up on because they are always too full don't help anyone.

I was never talking about Goodwill as I never said I was familiar with them. Thanks anyway.

One of the things I like about supporting my local United Way is that the money and aid stays HERE. It helps those that are around me every day. If you look at the numbers, 1 in every 3 people in my community is touched by a United Way agency. So, it's helping coworkers, neighbors, friends, etc.

I'm friends with this year's Board President and this year's Campaign Chair. Dd's BFF's mom is on the Board. The man I bought my house from has been the Day of Caring chair for like 15 years. I'm pretty sure how things are run and where the money/aid goes.
