I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.

1. If you had unlimited amounts of money, what type of Random Acts of Kindness would you do? At Christmas or otherwise.

2.

I don't even consider the stuff that I donate to be "charity" really.

I just watched it now. I am not horrified by his behavior. I have a son who just likes to be overly dramatic in a class clown kind of way. He has two types of "tantrums". One is the full-blown crying, throwing himself to the floor tantrum. The other is a tearless, controlled performance with overly animated facial expressions that is strictly for the same of the audience. From a hypothetical standpoint, I can see that particular child of mine, who asks Santa for one thing, and hopes fervently to get it every year, enter the room, see a present, assume it is the one thing he asked for, and then open it and say "what the heck?"

Now, here is where I think things can go wrong. IF we laughed at the "what the heck" reaction, he would start into one of his little dramatic performance. The little corners of his mouth would twitch and let us know he was doing it for our sake, but he would say things like "what the heck, I don't get books for Christmas". If we continued to laugh, he would take it to the next level and he would not stop until we became stern. I am not horrified by the kid's behavior, but I was less than impressed with the parents' reaction to it. I would certainly not post it on youtube, but I may think that those who know my son's little dramatic moments and animated facial expressions would be amused by it.

I think everyone is looking into the situation TOO much. He is THREE. He thinks he gets toys for Christmas. Because he is THREE.

Why wouldn't they just put the tree up when he came home?

It's sad but you just don't always know where your money is going.

I'm running with my brother tomorrow. Though live less than 30mi a part, we don't a lot of time to spend together, so we're planning on the slow 7mi course near his home to prepare for an 8k at mine on the new year.
