I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.

1. If you had unlimited amounts of money, what type of Random Acts of Kindness would you do? At Christmas or otherwise.

2.

You guys have been busy today, lol.

"I think it's about the kid understanding that a person in need is receiving a portion of our good fortune. That in itself (to me) is a way of showing the child that Christmas is NOT all presents. It's about giving of oneself."

I thought it was horrible. I could hardly stand to watch it. I think the parents failed miserably in how they handled it.

I asked dh for *hardware* for my new curtains. He said he wouldn't get it for me, @@. I would love it!

What happened to the charitble giving discussion? Giving to others IS a tradition that I would never...NEVER, take away from my kids.

You make an excellent point.

"I think most criticism stems from defensiveness. I would be very sad if I had to choose between giving my children a nice Christmas or giving to charity. Perhaps some people become defensive that their choice to give their children a nice Christmas does not leave them enough to be charitable. I can sympathize with that."

The used book store is one of my kids' favorite places. Then, a local book store. They are of course, quite fond of B&N, too, lol.

YES!

Graciously receiving a gift is a gift in it's self. And something that needs to be learned...even from teh youngest of children.

" What I find amusing is the idea of someone who would not DREAM of buying second-hand clothes getting all pissy that her old clothes won't be worn."

That's pathetic.

Yes! I hate it when people think that they get to dictate how others use the things that they've *given* away!

All this talk about wrapping...I haven't wrapped a gift in years, lol. We use "santa sacks" of a sort. Mil and sil make them for all of the gifts that they give...I've collected so many over the years taht we have every size, shape, color and pattern imaginable.
