I was reading about the Kansas City Secret Santa today and thought how much fun that would be. It made me start thinking what I would do if I had 40k to spare. So here are some questions.
1. If you had unlimited amounts of money, what type of Random Acts of Kindness would you do? At Christmas or otherwise.

My morning made me think of this thread. This is not in response to your post, necessarily, but I figured it's a place to put it.
A few years ago, a bunch of collection bins started showing up around town. They had a name on them, but I don't remember the name. They were red, white and blue. There were several news stories after awhile about how this was a "for-profit" company, not a charity, but they were somewhat deceptive on how they presented themselves.
We have a very strong St. VdP organization and Goodwill with storefronts. The news talked about how these organizations were hurting because of these other for-profit bins. Those two organizations are NOT for profit however.
Those bins have disappeared since then. Maybe they are on Long Island too?
But I repeat these bins did not belong to Goodwill or St.VdP.

When my kids were little, I used to make a small cake for Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve and we'd sing Happy Birthday as well.

Could be, I guess, although my impression was that the LI poster was upset that poor people were receiving services paid for by selling the old clothes instead of being made to wear the clothes. She also seemed to think that charities should not have any paid employees or overhead.
