What brand is your immersion blender?

I think it's a Cuisinart.

He would like to start, yes! But right now we don't have a waffle iron, or a bread machine... But, you don't necessarily have to have a bread machine to make bread, do you?

Excuse my ignorance but what is a baking stone? I've heard of them, but actually have no idea what they are.

He likes cooking and baking..... He's mentioned wanting to make waffles (which would be more cooking, I guess), and bread (which is more baking.) Pretty much anything kitchen related he likes. He most recently started making homemade ice cream, homemade vanilla extract, and homemade vanilla sugar. I think anything "kitchen related" will be a win.

Ooooh I bet he'd like the pasta maker. He mentioned trying to do that for Thanksgiving but didn't get around to it... Food processor is another great idea, we have a mini one that we both love...

A baking stone is simply a baking pan made of stone instead of ceramic, metal or glass. Pampered Chef is perhaps the most well-known brand. They rock.

If he likes both cooking and baking, you're probably good with almost anything. But, I'd stay away from faddish or trendy gadgets. Those are more for people that don't like to cook but have to. IOW, don't buy something he won't really use (like a juice if your family doesn't drink juice, or a garlic press if your family hates garlic).

Does he have the decorator tools for fancy frosting?

He does have the decorator tools! He's got all the frosting tips and he has the gum paste toolkit... But, I like the cookbook idea too, thanks!
