In an effort to make food in schools healthier, some school districts have actually banned cupcakes at school birthday celebrations.

Hummus is good, cheap (especially if you soak the chickpeas yourself) and easy. You can even freeze it, and it is a decent source of protein.

ITA with you. That is why I let my kids try everything. They love everything from veggies an fruits to candy. They are picky about alot of things but I try and make them all different types of foods. If they don't like them, that is fine. I didn't like alot of things when I was a kid that I like now so your taste buds do change.
Me, I eat EVERYTHING. I am not picky at all. My dh is very picky-so he is another story-lol!

FWIW, I was brought up the same way and I have continued to prefer natural and fresh foods all my life. The same goes for my brothers. Dd is 15 now. She does go to Starbucks with her friends and even to a burger joint sometimes, but it is not her preference. I think when you are used to the taste of "real" food, you tend to prefer it.

Why a heart doctor twice a year if everything is fine?

This is where math is important.

Juicy Juice Grape is sold in 2 formats: a large bottle or a juice box.

The serving size quoted for a large (grape) bottle is 240 ml, which has 29g of sugar.

The serving size of the (grape) juice box is 200 ml and it has 24g of sugar.

In order to compare actual amounts of sugar, you have to compare equal volumes. Capri Sun is not sold in large bottles (at least not on Peapod) but it is sold in 200ml packs (6.65 oz). When you compare the 200ml/6.75 oz serving sizes, Capri Sun has 28-29 mg of sugar.

Comparing equal volumes is the only meaningful way to compare.

I am a hummus junkie -- I LOVE hummus on a fat free tortilla with spinach and sprouts for a sandwich (that's a 3 point sandwich Hazel LOL)

However, when I was pregnant, hummus was one of my big cravings. I ate it constantly .
