In an effort to make food in schools healthier, some school districts have actually banned cupcakes at school birthday celebrations.

my daughter just started kindergarten and her teacher suggested not sending cupcakes because in her experience the kids don't eat them and they go to waste.
I said that she goes these places for social reasons, but that she does not prefer the foods/drinks there. At 15 I do not "let" her. She has been largely in charge of her own food choices for a long time already. My point was that she prefers healthy/natural foods for the most part, even though I am not controlling it anymore.
I did not say that there was anything wrong with juiceboxes, as long as they contain actual juice and not some syrup and water concoction. I asked someone why they gave juiceboxes at all, only because of the ages of their kids. By school age, dd had mostly switched to water and the juiceboxes are something I associate with the preschool years.
Have you ever been in the classroom to serve up the cupcakes?
