In an effort to make food in schools healthier, some school districts have actually banned cupcakes at school birthday celebrations.

Shoot, most kids are so bored in school they would have looks of glee if I showed up with cups of broccoli as long as they got a fifteen minute break from their regular routine. It doesn't take too much to thrill a class of third graders. They're really easy.

Sometimes I keep candy in my pocket and throw it into the crowd in my college classes to wake everybody up. Hung over 19 year olds are a bit more difficult to please.

I agree, but she joined WW to lose at least 20 lbs.

But wouldn't they have to put "corn syrup" (or "high fructose corn syrup") on the ingredient list if it had been added? I don't think they'd be able to use "concentrate" as a proxy for "HFCS added".

If my kids weren't as physically active as they are, I wouldn't take them out for ice cream or frozen custard once a week or so either. But my younger kid in the summer might start the day riding bikes, for an hour with friends, participate in a neighborhood pick-up baseball game mid-morning, walk or scooter his paper route (about a mile) between 3 and 4, and finish up with a league game in the evening. The older one is even more active, on the school cross country team. He bicycles into school (2 miles), runs for two hours with the team, and then bicycles home. Often participates in neighborhood baseball, basketball, or street hockey games in the late afternoon or evenings. He's 5'9 and weighs 123 pounds. Getting him to slow down long enough eat is often a challenge.

It's a very long story but I had to have a procedure on my heart in 2005 (called an EPS). I go every 6 months to get checked. I also go to the dr. for my high blood pressure (genetic).

We have homemade pancakes once a week or so, too. Very easy. Cup of flour, 2 T sugar, 1 t. baking powder, 1/2 t. salt, vanilla, an egg, 2 T melted butter at the bottom of a cup, add milk to the 1 cup mark, stir milk and egg into dry ingredients, and you have enough for three pancakes. Takes maybe 15 minutes start to finish. And the kids like them with mashed banana stirred in, or on their birthdays, some mini chocolate chips.

Why not? Not everyone who goes to ww or any other weight loss center is overweight. I was not comfortable with my weight and found a way to lose it without sacrificing eating (which I LOVE-lol!!).
