In an effort to make food in schools healthier, some school districts have actually banned cupcakes at school birthday celebrations.

The highlight of Dylan's day is whatever he is doing when I ask him that question.

we have a sugar ban. nothing with anything over 3grams of sugar and no cake like things, candy or cup cakes, etc.
at birthdays the only thing we allowed was a creamcheese/fruit pie type thing...that was the closest we'd let get to a cake bc the parents actually threw such a hissy fit.
what they aren't realizing though ( the ones who didnt agree ) is that sugar affects the child....it makes them tired/hyper...it just has no place in a learning environment. we should be supporting healthy eating choices not junk food..whether it is a birthday or not.
leave the parties and sweets for at home.
When I was about 5 mths along I caught a really nasty stomach bug and couldn't keep anything down for three days.
How is this telling parents what their children can and can not have?
i don't see why any parent would fight to keep sugar in their childrens classrooms. its discusting to think they should even care if their kids don't get a cupcake every month or so at school.
this is why we have so many overweight children later in life ( the eating habbits start early on and grow with them )
there is no real reason to have refined sugar in the diet...esp not every time one of their 30 or so classmates has a birthday.
