In an effort to make food in schools healthier, some school districts have actually banned cupcakes at school birthday celebrations.

Oooh, have I go the perfect no-bake recipe for you! And it even has loads of oatmeal. It's a classic Swedish recipe known as Chokladbollar (chocolate balls, although it has no chocolate). Here is a link:

This is not quite the same as the traditional Swedish recipe, but it's close enough. What I like about the recipe is that the bulk of it is oatmeal, but kids really love the stuff. Even very little kids can help make the balls.
My dds don't invite school friends at all, with the exception of the few who live near us.
