I've been thinking about the recent discussion about "opinions" and the Imus case comes to mind as an example, an extreme example for sure...but an example none the less.

Lol. I love those commercials

Im blonde too btw. I like blonde jokes for two reasons.

One is that they are generally hilarious....why did the blond spend 2 months in the shower? she read on the shampoo bottle, "lather, rinse, repeat".....

The second? For the few morons who believe the stereotype? Im all about using that to my advantage if I can. To me, a man younger than the age of 75 who refers to me as "honey" because Im cute with blonde hair is someone I can easily take advantage of.

But whatever, someone's power tool is another's slur.

Is Imus a bblack rapper?

A little dramatic, aren't you, "all my being"? - just really engaging in a debate. I have demonstrated that Imus statements were racist and how others have called him on them. He admitted that his statements were racists and I, unlike you, have taken him at his word. He has also stated he is not a racist, and I see no reason to agree or disagree, I really do not know the man and I don't care to. His forum for perpertuating institional racism, sexism, and homophobia is gone. Why do I owe him an apology? You neglected to explain this to me.

Again I disagree. Instead of being a victim of words I tend to fire back. It usually shuts morons like Imus up. I have read the definition of racist...his comments do NOT fit that definition. If you think they were racist then fine. I dont think your feelings are wrong or invalid, I just disagree that his words fit the definition of racist.

<<>>

Exactly. He wasnt trying to put them down. Now if he had said:

Those stupid *n word* nappy headed hos.... then you would have a racist comment.

<<>>

I havent heard of 1/2 these words but will bet they are on many rap cd's. Not to mention I dont see nappy headed ho in that list.

No but again it is the shoe on the other foot example. If it is acceptable speech within the black community why is it unacceptable for others to say it?

<<>>

Well since you werent getting it the other way I had to take another direction?

<<>>

Yes and I disagree.

<<>>

He to is using the term racist incorrectly.

<<>>

I agree.

<<>>

Give Sirius/XM Radio about a month to get the deal together. He will be back on.

<<>>

You dont. I didnt say you did. I was asking you because you stated that you think Imus is a racist. You would apologize to him for calling him that? I am trying to get you to see that when people say things they believe to be true they dont apologize for it. Skinheads, Black Panthers, KKK say racist things all the time and do not apologize for them. It is what they believe to be true. That is why I disagree with you that Imus is a racist. If he were he would not have apologized.

This still has nothing to do with the Imus debate, but it is debatable - I just don't have the time or inclination to engage.

People apologize all the time for times that they believe to be true - Example my dd just apologized for teasing her brother. She did tease him, but, truth be told, I don't think she's really sorry, she'll do it again if she thinks she can get away with it.

The is much more to racism than being a member of the KKK.

ot but i found something on the news last night fascinating....do you think imus would have been fired if this vt massacre happened at the same time? makes you realize just how huge media's influence is on all this kind of stuff.
