I've been thinking about the recent discussion about "opinions" and the Imus case comes to mind as an example, an extreme example for sure...but an example none the less.
Here's a link to one of the many stories about this issue

So is it true, if someone

I'm in a different time zone - so responses will be erratic, but I'll continue if you want to.
You kept trying to being rappers into the Imus debate - they are not part of why Imus' comments were judged to be racist. I always encouraged to start another topic about rappers because it could be an interesting topic, but it was never central nor germane to Imus' comments. I've explained that in many ways, including the ones that you stated to be a personal attack on you. I've felt I been patient and respectful in comments and tone.
You can debate however you want, but bringing the tactic to light exposes it as a nonstarter it is as a method to advance the discussion.

You keep telling me I said Imus was a racist - Which I never did. The comment Imus made was a racial slur and it is considered to be a racist comment when viewed in context.
Really, we've established that you do not consider nappyheaded ho a racist statement. But the Rutgers women, Imus, and CBS and MSNBC execs do consider it a racist statement. Since the comment was not directed at you, I've got to go with the victims and the perpetrator here - yes, was a racist comment. Imus did not respect the Rutgers basketball team - He commented on their appearance and held them up for ridicule. The entire exchange with his staff is even more damning as racist and misogynistic than the nappyheaded ho comment in isolation:
ROSENBERG: Yeah, Tennessee won last night -- seventh championship for Pat Summitt, I-Man. They beat Rutgers by 13 points.
IMUS: That's some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos and --
McGUIRK: Some hard-core hos.
IMUS: That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know.
McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing.
IMUS: Yeah.
McGUIRK: The Jigaboos vs. the Wannabes -- that movie that he had.
IMUS: Yeah, it was a tough --
McCORD: Do The Right Thing.
McGUIRK: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
IMUS: I don't know if I'd have wanted to beat Rutgers or not, but they did, right?
ROSENBERG: It was a tough watch. The more I look at Rutgers, they look exactly like the Toronto Raptors.
IMUS: Well, I guess, yeah.
RUFFINO: Only tougher.
McGUIRK: The Grizzlies would be more appropriate.
in·tol·er·ant –adjective
1. not respecting beliefs, opinions, usages, manners, etc., different from one's own, as in political or religious matters; bigoted.
Seems that Imus and company hit all the major points in this definition. So tell me again how these were not a racist comments?
Raising my hand...

Never said a thing about that.

Here is where we can start the discussion about Subthreads. Happens a lot on a debate board.
<<>>
Ok.
<<>>
I really have no idea what you are talking about here.
<<>>
YOu are continually changing your statements. Either you think it was a racial slur or a racist comment. I showed you were you have called his comments racist.
<<>>
That is where I said if they want to play the victim role have at it. They can or for that matter anyone can consider any comment whatever they like. Doesnt make it so. Again I will refer you to the definition of racist. His comments do not fall under that definition.
<<>>
Again see dictionary. You and they are wrong.
<<>>
I would agree that the statement was stupid.
<<>>
You posted the definition of intolerant. His comments do not fall under those either. The Jigaboo comment...that was from SPIKE LEE's movie. Oh yeah...a black director.
I'm all for it, but it still does not effect whether the Imus comment was racist or not.
I've called it a racial slur, racially insensitive and it has ultimately been judged as a racist comment by others in both the black and white communities. I've been consistent here.
Anyone can make any free speech related comment they one, network executives have decided that Imus's racists comments crossed the line when he attacked the Rutgers basketball team. He mischaracterized their appearance, he implied they were thugs, and he impugned their virtue, for the reason that they were black. When the team was revealed as smart, talented, and beautiful; the victims became transcendent and Imus became the victim of the fallout of his racist comments. He did some pretty significant tap dancing when he became the victim. In your world, he should have just taken it like a man.
If Spike Lee made the comment, I'd judge in in context, but the Imus team made the comments, and those comments were racist.
<<>>
That was never my point. I have told you more than once how it related.
<<>>
You also called it a racist comment. So I ask again which is it?
<<>>
I dont know that I agree with you here. I dont know if they thought he crossed a line or he was bad for business.
<<>>
Really? How did you come to that conclusion?
<<>>
I have no doubt they are smart, and talented but their physical appearance is within th eye of the beholder.
<<>>
No that is not my opinion at all. Can you tell me how you can to know my opinion?
<<>>
Let me give you a little background. Although I find it humorous that you posted the transcript but are not informed as to where they got these comments from. Again...not racist.

Sorry, But Something Is Wrong If Spike Lee Can Say “Jigaboos” & “Wannabes” But Whites not! I’m Black So I Can Criticize Blacks; But White Bloggers Cannot?
Interesting read.
A racist comment would be....A comment made that states that a person of one color is beneath a person of another color.
