Since apparently the poster to whom I asked these questions to didn't really want to debate, maybe the rest of you would be interested.

that question is kind of personal; its like asking someone who doesn't believe in the death penality if they would if someone killed your kid to me. i do not know how i would feel if it happened on my home turf but i will tell you this, those crimes are an example of HUMAN sin and failure. it does not get in the way of how i live my faith and where i practice it.

Two reasons:

1) the hypocrisy really bothered me. I didn't want to be around it.

2) but more importantly, I felt I was being disingenuous to go to church when I didn't have that kind of faith (the kind ducky is referencing). If I go to church, I want it to be because I'm living that life everyday. I don't want to be an Easter and Christmas churchgoer.

that is funny because i thought our lord's prayer was a looong one, Lol. we substitute the word trespass against us for something else protestants say and our prayer has a pause or break for meditation in there, too. how is yours different?

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses (some denominations do use "debt")

As we forgive those who trespass against us,

Lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil,

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever!

Amen

You thought the Lord's Prayer was long?

this is our prayer before dinner.. Bless us, oh Lord and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. .....this one is pretty short!

because the faith that i live comes from the church in which i belong.

When I say "church", I refer to the building and/or the people who are attending services, for example I went to church on Sunday.

yes, we do pause b/w deliver us from evil - and - for thine is the kingdom..... that's what adds to the length of it, really.
