Well actually, to be nit picky, the Catholic version is not any shorter than what Bord posted. Catholics recite the main part, then the priest adds in "deliver us, Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, J.C.". Then everyone finishes with, "For the kingdom, the power and glory are yours,now and forever."

We hold hands throughout the entire thing and trust me, the last part does seem long when your kids are squeezing each others' hands trying to get a rise out of their sibling! :)

I always struggled with that when I'd attend a Catholic church. I was raised in Disciples/Methodist churches, who both use the longer version. To this day - even after spending years in Catholic churches, it's hard for me not to add the extra two lines.

Can I answer? My brother's pastor was an abuser, an embezzler, and more. I did lose faith in the Church, but not my faith in Christ.
