Since apparently the poster to whom I asked these questions to didn't really want to debate, maybe the rest of you would be interested.

Ah huh, I am amazed that ANYONE has longer songs than the Methodists. By the time I set done singing all the verses of "The Church's One Foundation" I feel like I have taught an entire semester's course in church history.

I know, I know...but for some reason this one is short in our book and I prefer the longer Catholic version of at least this song, lol.

I agree it's not perfect because we aren't perfect, we all sin.

See, I don't have that kind of conviction, that kind of relationship with God. And a little deep-down part of me wishes I did - because I think there'd be a lot positives that go along with that. But I haven't ever found that kind of faith.

For me it wasn't until I really started reading the bible and participating in bible studies that I found the kind of deep faith that I believe I have today.

Not to anyone in particular, just some thoughts after considering the things in this thread.

I, personally, am not *attached* to any one denomination.

Well actually, to be nit picky, the Catholic version is not any shorter than what Bord posted. Catholics recite the main part, then the priest adds in "deliver us, Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, J.C.". Then everyone finishes with, "For the kingdom, the power and glory are yours, now and forever."

We hold hands throughout the entire thing and trust me, the last part does seem long when your kids are squeezing each others' hands trying to get a rise out of their sibling! :)

I always struggled with that when I'd attend a Catholic church. I was raised in Disciples/Methodist churches, who both use the longer version. To this day - even after spending years in Catholic churches, it's hard for me not to add the extra two lines.

Can I answer? My brother's pastor was an abuser, an embezzler, and more. I did lose faith in the Church, but not my faith in Christ.
